  • What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is traditionally a buddhist practice. Today it is know for the practice of being present and engaged with all aspects of life: the good/bad, the light and the dark. It’s all about living with intention and purpose and includes many practices. Those practices can include meditation, breath-work, gratitude, affirmation, Ayurveda, mantra, and Yoga.
  • What is Yoga?
Yoga isn't exercise or stretching although it can be both of those things. Yoga is a practice for self-actualization. The Sanskrit word yoga means to "yoke" or find union. It is the union of self between, mind, body, and spirit. It is a mindful movement practice that helps clear stuck energies in the body, preparing you for a deeper, seated meditation practice.
  • What is Meditation?
Meditation is the practice of training the mind to focus on one object (anchor), thought or activity to increase attention and awareness (mindfulness). Meditation promotes a mentally clear, and emotionally calm, stable state.
  • What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word which translates to mean life science and is the sister science to yoga. It's about balancing the 5 energies: earth, air, fire, water, wind and ether. It is believed that all things are made up of some combination of these elemental energies. When these energies become imbalanced that can wreak havoc on the mind, body and spirit. Depending on your nature, (prakriti) there are different self-care, meditation and breath work practices to help you maintain inner balance and harmony. One of my goals as your guide, is to help you become aware of these subtle energies at play, and to keep them balanced so you can maintain a healthy, stable, grounded state everyday.
  • What is Sound Healing?
Crystal singing bowls are tuned to match specific sound frequencies. These frequencies align with the 7 chakras or energetic centers in the body. As the bowls are played, and the sounds wash over you, clear blocked energy channels and bring your chakras back in to balance. When different sound vibrations and frequencies are created, it impacts the body and its nadis (channels) which promotes deep relaxation, the release of emotional trauma, and relief from stress or anxiety.
  • What are "Affirmations"?
An affirmation is a positive statement set in the present tense. You either state it aloud or silently to yourself. Affirmations encourage you to change your view of yourself (beliefs) and the world around you. They boost your self-esteem, and support to extinguish your limiting beliefs, and reduce negative thought patterns. Example: I am enough. I am strong. I live in abundance. I flow through life with ease and grace.
  • Why practice Gratitude?
When you practice gratitude daily, what you have becomes enough. Everything else becomes "extra". When you are able to clearly articulate, see, feel and appreciate what's around you, the things around you change. Practicing gratitude is also an excellent way to counteract our brain's built-in 'negativity bias'. So the more you practice, you'll begin to hardwire your brain in to seeing the positive things in life more regularly.
